Olympic-Themed 2021 Youth and Teen Barrel Racing Championship Largest Race in NBHA History

With the Olympic theme of “NBHA Games: Stronger. Braver. Faster.,” this year’s Teen and Youth World Championships emerged as the largest in NBHA’s history. Elite riders and horses from across the nation tested their barrel racing skill at the 2021 National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Youth and Teen World Championships held July 18 to July 24 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, GA. Competitors made over 5,000 runs throughout the course of the event and earned their share of the $430,000 cash purse.

Pressley Green Porter riding Little Jets A Blazin claimed victory as the 1D winner for the Youth Division with a time of 14.529, and Summer Pauly riding JL Little Wags clenched the top spot as the 1D winner for the Youth Division with a time of 14.560.

“The Teen and Youth World Championships was spectacular, from ground conditions to attendance, payout and activities” stated NBHA Director of Barrel Racing, Bailey Nahrgang. “The NBHA family environment, made so special and is unlike no other event; you could feel the excitement and energy in Perry. I want to sincerely thank every single supporter and rider for their choice in attending the World Championships, and we hope to see you all again at future shows.”

Notably, the 2021 NBHA Teen and Youth World Championships accumulated record views while being streamed on the Wrangler Network. Pole bending and an amateur adult barrel race were added to this year’s lineup, and features included $60,000 in added money, as well as sidepots sponsored by Troxel Helmets, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and the American Paint Horse Association (APHA). A Flair Nasal Strip Bonus was also added to both the Teen and Youth Short Go.

The results of the 2021 NBHA Teen and Youth World Championships are now available on the complete online event management platform, SaddleBook, as NBHA and SaddleBook entered an innovative partnership this year.
